BCTC Tour Was Impressive!

Our local Bluegrass Community & Technical College (BCTC), here in Danville is a wonderful asset to the community. Steve and I took a tour this week and we wanted to share a bit of information about this resource. The school is planning a huge expansion to serve more students and to provide a greater number of trained individuals — especially for our local industry. What a great way to boost the local economy the RIGHT way!

BCTC has secured a grant from the state, under Governor Bevin’s initiatives, to expand — but they need matching funds from the local community to access the grant money. After the tour, we were impressed enough to dig into our own pockets here at Cool Jazz Web Design Studio and make a good-sized donation to help them reach their goal. We hope you, as small business owners and as individuals will do the same. After all, growing the local economy through training future workers is the best way to ensure our mutual continued growth and prosperity in Danville, Boyle County and the surrounding areas that BCTC serves.

Here is a bit of info for you about BCTC’s new expansion:

  • The Advanced Manufacturing Center will provide additional space for three key programs at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Danville Campus:  Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Electrical Technology, and Industrial Maintenance Technology.
  • The new space will be approximately 16,000 square feet and will allow the newly implemented AMT Program, as well as the Electrical and Industrial Maintenance programs, to expand by doubling their annual student enrollment capacity. In total, this project will increase the pool of skilled technicians in these in-demand fields by increasing the annual number of program graduates from 38 to 76, thus significantly reducing the current workforce skills-gap.
  • To date, the community/region has stepped up to support the project as $650,000 has been raised.  An additional $350,000 is required to meet the required $1,000,000 community match for the Kentucky Work Ready Skills Initiative where the college was awarded $2,736,000.

We encourage you to go tour, learn more about the school, and give generously. Cool Jazz has set up an easy way for you to give through our Facebook Page and you can give directly by visiting the BCTC Giving Page. (Be sure to specify that your gift is for the Danville Campus Expansion). If you would like a tour, contact BCTC (859-239-7030) and ask for Dr. Erin Tipton to set up your individual or group tour.

It’s wonderful to be a part of helping our community grow. We do it every day in our business here at Cool Jazz, helping one business at a time to grow and prosper. We welcomed the opportunity to give on a different level by donating to help train our future workforce!
